Osseous Surgery
Frequently this surgery is referred to as flap surgery, pocket reduction surgery, or open flap debridement. During this procedure the infection is cleaned under the gum line so your tissue can reattach to the tooth and to reduce the size of the pockets. This procedure can be combined with bone grafting, membrane, and biologic materials such as Enamel Matrix Protein (Emdogain) to rebuild bone and tissue that have been lost over time.
Due to recent medical advancements in bioengineering and stimulation of selective tissues, such as bone, gums, and periodontal ligaments, periodontal surgery has been greatly improved allowing more teeth to be saved than ever before. Osseous surgery and regeneration also increases the overall health of your mouth while saving teeth that might otherwise have been lost. While other Periodontists might pull a tooth, we use the latest regenerative materials so our patients can keep as many of their natural teeth as possible.
