Implant Services
Whether you need to replace one tooth, multiple teeth, or all your teeth, from the actual placement of the implant to restoring the implant with a crown or dentures, we can help you get the best implant services. Below is a comparison with alternatives of implants for missing teeth.
Bridge vs. Implant
With a bridge (also known as a fixed partial denture), to replace the missing tooth two adjacent healthy teeth are shaved down and crowns are placed on top of them with the fake tooth attached between them. Often times the two teeth that are used to anchor the fake tooth must be shaved down to create space for the crowns. Your own healthy tooth, unshaved has a longer life span than one with shaved enamel, since enamel is the hardest layer of the tooth. Additionally, since there is no longer a root at the site of the fake tooth, bone begins to deteriorate over time which can decrease the stability of the teeth bordering the gap. When an implant is used in replace of a bridge, the adjacent teeth are left alone and maintain their current, healthy condition. Implants also prevent future bone loss by enhancing the overall function of the bone.
Removable Dentures vs. Implant Supported Dentures
When a person loses their teeth often times they will get a complete or partial denture(s) thinking this is their only option. The major problem with dentures is that when you are missing your natural teeth the bone will start to deteriorate. This bone is what forms your jaw line. If you look at two people that are the same age one with their natural teeth and the other that has lost their natural teeth and with dentures, usually the one with their natural teeth looks younger. This removable appliance can be ill fitting, pop and click, and uncomfortable. Dentures can affect your diet and you may be afraid that it will fall out due to limited support. Implants can immediately help to improve the stability of your dentures.
If you do not have enough bone, we can add bone to make either an implant supported partial or complete denture possible. Implants are the most natural and long lasting tooth replacement option as long as you are getting regular cleanings, checkups and maintain good hygiene at home. Instead of being embarrassed of your ill-fitting removable dentures consider implant-supported dentures that will not only improve your quality of life but will look better and have better function. Nobody will know that those are not your real teeth!
